Lattes and leaves at Plant Co.

Nestled in the heart of Ezulwini, there's a place where coffee beans meet greenery, where the aroma of freshly ground espresso mingles with the earthy scent of thriving plants.

Welcome to Plant Co, a charming haven that blends coffee culture with the tranquility of nature. It's not just a café, it's a sanctuary, a place where you can sip, relax, and grow.

Sifiso Daladi Dlamini, the visionary behind this unique concept, has always been passionate about plants. His journey into the world of horticulture began back in 2003 with his first nursery, and his love for greenery has only deepened since then.

“I’ve always loved plants. Coffee itself comes from a plant too. It felt like the perfect marriage of coffee and plants bringing beauty and calm together in one space,” says Dlamini, a trained agriculturalist whose fingers have long been green.

So why now? And why Eswatini? Dlamini believes the timing is perfect. “It’s God's timing,” he says with a deep sense of conviction.

After the emotional loss of Emfuleni Lifestyle, a previous business venture, Dlamini found solace and strength in creating a space that not only nurtures plants but also nurtures people.

“It’s a place of renewal, for both plants and people,” he adds, a warm smile breaking through.

When you step into Plant Co, you’re immediately greeted by a calming aura. ‘Tranquility. Peace. Serenity.’ That’s how Dlamini describes the energy of the space, and as you take a seat surrounded by lush greenery, you can’t help but agree.

It’s not just the coffee that has you feeling at ease; it’s the environment itself. The mix of leafy plants, earthy tones, and soft lighting invites you to settle in, relax, and escape the hustle of the world outside.

The menu at Plant Co is as thoughtfully curated as the plants surrounding it. Dlamini is committed to offering dishes that not only nourish the body but also align with the ethos of healthy living.

From vegan bowls filled with fresh, seasonal ingredients to diabetic-friendly pastries and vegetarian meals, there's something for every palate.

“We believe in nourishing the body with food that's as healthy as it is delicious,” Dlamini shares. For those with a sweet tooth, the Coffee Frio is a must-try; it's the kind of drink that lingers on your taste buds long after you’ve finished it.

But Plant Co isn’t just about what’s on your plate. It’s about what’s growing around you. As you sip your coffee, you’re surrounded by a variety of plants, from indoor greenery to ornamental flowers, fruit trees, and indigenous shrubs.

Some are for sale, others for rental to organizations and events. “We’re proud to offer a wide selection of plants whether you’re looking to add some greenery to your home or rent them for a special occasion,” Dlamini explains.

Among the best-sellers are the different varieties of Croton, whose vibrant, multicolored leaves have become a favorite among customers.

For those new to the world of plants, fear not. Dlamini and his team are happy to offer advice on plant care.

Whether it’s helping you choose the right spot for your new plant, managing pests and diseases, or even explaining the medicinal benefits of certain species, Plant Co is as much about education as it is about relaxation.

Dlamini’s love for plants is evident in every corner of the café. As a self-proclaimed ‘plant dad’ he takes great pride in nurturing his green babies, particularly the Philodendrons, which he describes as his favorite.

“They’re hardy, beautiful, and they thrive with just a little attention,” he says, his affection for the plants palpable.

The beauty of Plant Co goes beyond its plants and food. Dlamini envisions it as a space that fosters community and creativity. He wants to promote wellness.

“That’s why we’re planning a variety of events, from plant swaps to farmers markets, paint and sip nights, and even wellness workshops.” he says.

And it doesn’t stop there. Plant Co is also looking to become a hub for creatives, offering a free venue for artists, writers, and makers to host their events.

“We’re creating a space where people can come together, share ideas, and grow,” Dlamini explains.

What makes Plant Co truly special is its commitment to creating a nurturing environment not just for plants, but for people.

It’s a place where you can unwind, refuel, and reconnect with yourself, your community, and the earth.

Whether you're coming for a cup of coffee, to find a new plant companion, or to attend one of the upcoming workshops, you’re guaranteed to leave feeling refreshed, inspired, and just a little bit more grounded.

“Plant Co stands for rejuvenating experiences,” says Dlamini. “We want people to feel better when they leave than when they arrived.”

And that’s a promise that’s not just rooted in the soil. It’s in the air, the food, the plants, and the people. Plant Co is more than just a café it’s a space where everything grows.
