I was broke as a MF!

.....Lloyiso addresses the 'Elephant in the Room'

The 'Herd' got their money's worth during Lloyiso’s set at the 3rd Edition of MoMo Xperience on Saturday night.

As soon as he stepped on stage, he shifted from high energy to something far more personal.

The South African singer paused between songs to speak and affirm openly about his journey, faith, and where he comes from.

Lloyiso took to the stage in an all-white punk outfit,  immediately drawing attention as he opened his set with a burst of energy that set the tone for the night.

The crowd responded early, with familiar songs pulling people closer to the stage. From the beginning, his performance moved between momentum and pause.

He would perform a song, then stop to speak to the audience, shifting the atmosphere without losing control.

It was during these moments that he opened up about his personal journey, reflecting on where he comes from and how far he has come.

One of the most relatable moments came when he said, “I was once broke as a motherf*er”, he said pre-eminently in his song High.

The statement landed strongly with the crowd, drawing loud reactions and visible emotion from different parts of the venue.

He continued in that same tone, speaking about faith, patience, and holding on when things are uncertain.

These conversations were not separate from the music; they sat within it, shaping how each song was received.

His set included Nontsikelelo, Speak, Dream About You, and Madoda Sabelani, among others. Each song carried a different weight in the set.

Dream About You and Speak drew softer, more reflective reactions from the crowd, while other moments kept the energy lifted between the emotional sections.

As the set progressed, the audience reaction became more layered. Some people were singing every word, while others stood still, watching and listening without interruption.

The balance between performance and storytelling shaped the entire experience of his set.

By the end of his performance, the energy in the venue had shifted from excitement to reflection, with the final songs closing on a more restrained but steady note.

This was easily the best performance of the night. Between the engaging theatrics, creative set and costumes, and audience engagement, Lloyiso was the most memorable musical act of the night.

People who have seen the singer perform frequently praise his authenticity. Whether he is performing solo on piano or backed by sweeping, choir-like instrumentals, his live shows never feel manufactured.

His stage presence is grounded and confident, allowing him to command massive outdoor festival crowds at events like MoMo Xperience.

Building on his initial rise to fame on Idols SA, Lloyiso has successfully transitioned into a globally touring pop and soul artist.

His recent headline performance, ranging from his debut at the Camden Assembly in London to his highly acclaimed ‘Elephant in the Room’ national tour in South Africa, is praised for its high-quality production and immersive atmosphere.

He has a deeply dedicated fanbase affectionately known as the Herd with whom he shares intimate, storytelling-driven concerts that often leave audiences in tears.

.... Lloyiso names Eswatini as his performance of the year

After his performance at the 3rd Edition of MoMo Xperience, Lloyiso took to social media to reflect on the night, sharing a message that quickly caught attention from fans who had attended the show.

In his post, he wrote:

“SWAZILAND! ESWATINI! I felt your love last night! Your energy! Your hearts. You sang the songs word for word! Is it too early to say that’s my favourite performance this year?”

The message came shortly after a set that had already drawn strong emotional reactions from the crowd, many of whom responded throughout his performance as he moved between music and personal storytelling on stage.

Lloyiso’s appreciation for the audience was clear both during and after his set. While performing, he often paused between songs to engage directly with the crowd, speaking about his journey, his faith, and moments in his life that shaped his music.

That connection carried beyond the stage, reflected again in the way he described the Eswatini audience online.

In the same post, he highlighted how welcomed he felt throughout his time in the country. From his arrival at the airport to his movement between the hotel and the venue, he described the experience as smooth and well-organised, adding that he had genuinely enjoyed his stay.

He also made mention of the crowd’s participation during his performance, pointing out how the audience sang along to the songs word for word, something that stood out to him as an artist.

The post has since formed part of the wider conversation around his appearance at the festival, with many attendees echoing similar sentiments about the energy during his set and the connection between the artist and the audience.

For many, the combination of his emotional stage delivery and his post-event reflection positioned his performance as one of the most talked-about moments of the MoMo Xperience.

......Local acts and DJs across MoMo Xperience

Outside of the main headline set, several local artists and DJs carried the programme across different parts of the venue.

The Soil delivered a strong vocal performance earlier in the day, bringing their signature harmonies to the stage and receiving a warm response from the crowd.

Sibu Manzini also featured on the lineup, contributing to the local music presence that ran throughout the event.

DJ Sbu de Drum, Fantacy, and Bloss handled key DJ slots across the night, keeping the energy moving between live performances.

Their sets helped maintain continuity as the crowd shifted between stages and different sections of the venue.

Meanwhile, the third edition of MoMo Xperience ran late into the night, with performances stretching beyond the expected schedule.

Despite the delays, the programme continued to move, with audiences staying engaged across food stalls, stages, and open areas of the venue.

By the time the final groups began leaving shortly after midnight, the venue was still active, with music and movement continuing right up to closing time.

The interplay between the artist and the audience was hard to miss, he audience once again proved they are an essential ingredient in any successful live performance.
