The event is set to bring people together for a day of movement, nature and wellness, offering participants an opportunity to step away from the pace of everyday life, challenge themselves physically and reconnect with themselves in the outdoors.
Set against Malolotja’s highveld landscape, the hike is designed to welcome people across different fitness levels, with the focus less on competition and more on movement, connection and personal wellbeing.
For Bantu Nots, however, the event is more than a new addition to her public calendar. It is an extension of a fitness journey she has been taking personally for several years.
Known for her commanding energy, quick wit and signature protective styling, Bantu Nots is no stranger to being in front of a crowd. She has hosted major events, including the 3rd MoMo Xperience, and built a career around her ability to keep audiences engaged. Away from the stage, she has also been open about another part of her life: her journey with weight loss, fitness and learning to feel at home in her body.
A major part of that journey has been distance running. While her public profile is often associated with entertainment and hosting, endurance training has given her a different space to test herself, both physically and mentally. Speaking about her experience with running, Bantu Nots described the sport as something that has had a profound impact on her life.“Running holds a special place in my heart; I say it saved my life. This was actually my 3rd time running a half marathon. This was different because I hadn’t been training for a while but managed a PB [Personal Best], so it really was a rewarding run. I had fun, I pushed my body, and just realizing that some limits are mental and your body is capable of way more.”
It is this understanding of the relationship between physical endurance and mental strength that sits at the heart of Wellness Hike and Glow.
The hike allows Bantu Nots to take something that has largely been personal and make it communal. Rather than presenting wellness as a quick transformation or a particular aesthetic, the event places movement, nature and the process of pushing beyond perceived limits at the centre.
Her idea of the “glow” also comes from that process. It is not simply about appearance, but about the confidence and sense of achievement that can come from showing up for yourself, doing something difficult and discovering that you are capable of more than you thought.
