Mother’s Day falls on Sunday, May 11, and for those still searching for a meaningful gift or experience, The Wine Boutique will host a mulled wine-making class on Saturday, May 10, at Mantenga Lifestyle.
The hands-on session is scheduled to begin at 1pm and will include mulled wine tasting as well as a light lunch.
Organisers said the class is designed to introduce guests to the process of preparing mulled wine while exploring the balance of spices, wine selection and simmering techniques that shape the drink’s flavour profile.
Mulled wine, traditionally associated with colder seasons and festive markets, has continued to gain popularity for its warming spice combinations and rich taste.
The drink is commonly prepared using red wine infused with ingredients such as cinnamon, cloves, star anise and cardamom.
According to information shared ahead of the class, some of the spices used in mulled wine are widely recognised for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
While red wine contains resveratrol, a compound often linked to cardiovascular health when consumed in moderation.
Organisers noted that one of the key lessons in the class will focus on temperature control during preparation.
They explained that overheating the wine can affect both flavour and alcohol content, while a low simmer allows the spices to develop gradually without overpowering the drink.
The class is also being positioned as a Mother’s Day weekend activity, offering participants the opportunity to either attend with their mothers or purchase tickets as gifts.
Tickets are priced at E260 per person and include the tasting experience and lunch.
Worthnoting, the event will take place at Mantenga Lifestyle and spaces are limited due to the practical nature of the session.
